It’s my favie, @taylorrrbailey and Taylor Baby! Bonus us trying to recreate last year’s us.

One of my favorite recent drawings of one of my absolute favorites, @anne__wilcox! Anyway scroll through for process from sketch to my original “finished” version to a process video! All using @procreate!

There was a point of a few weeks where it looked like this wasn’t going to happen. Denver Writes hit a funding issue and days later my dad passed away. I didn’t know if any of this was actually going to happen, or if it did, not with me. But here we are, the books are here, and fourteen kids get to be published writers. We absolutely wouldn’t be here without the support of my family, of Sorcha, of my patient Starbucks crew, the staff of McGlone Academy, of the wonderful Denver Writes volunteers (and kids!), and of course the wonderful crew at BookBar, for sticking with us (and me) though everything!

Consider this post #TaylorMade. (Groan) @sorchops and I at our bestie tradition of Taylor Swift. Actually, most of our traditions involve crying while watching something musical and sparkly.. so.. But seriously, there’s no one in the world I’d rather have next to me while we scream our faces off while wearing bracelets that are timed to change colors at the movements of @taylorswift’s hips. After EIGHT years, my best friend is still the strongest, smartest, most badass (one time she saved an animal from a stampeding cow!), most protective, amazing person in the entire world, and I would do anything for her in an instant. #taylorswift #taylurking #reputationtour #1989tour

One of my absolute favorite humans ever, as well as one of my favorite artists (follow her! @madeyeturnerart), real life Harley Quinn inspo, and certainly my favorite Rocky performer, @madeyeturner! Always super sweet, never tires of the billions and billions of drawings I send her. Seriously seriously adore her. Even if we only somehow manage to see each other every 18 months or so, it’s like no time has passed at all. Made using @procreate 4.1, and apparently the art file was so detailed I wasn’t able to save the time-lapse, so I had to use the screen recording which is why it’s not as smooth as usual.

Since today is my first @bookbardenver friend and favorite, @anamaria.larosa’s last day, I told her I’d do a sketch of her totally adorbs outfit. Of course her last day is like five days before I officially start working at BookBar (wait what?), but whatever. I’ve absolutely loved the last two years of conversations about art and growing up in gigantic catholic families, but I’m so so so so excited for what she’s doing next!

She talked to everyone. And introduced me to everyone. As well as tried to set me up with every doctor/nurse/medical assistant/lab tech/waitress/hostess/receptionist/literally any woman we saw anywhere. Very similar to some of the Denver Writes kids.

Hi. I don’t know how to write this. I don’t know where to begin. The more I think about it, the angrier I get at the world, the universe, the whatever, for the unfairness of the situation. Not just unfair, but unbelievably and cruelly coincidentalness of the situation. So I don’t think about it. But what does that do? I keep expecting to wake up to some dumb text or a watch ding about some insane 34 mile bike ride he just completed.. but they’re not coming. And I know that. 6 months later and I’m not depressed, but I am sad. I’m not depressed, because I went through that with my mom, because I know the steps, because I know how this works, and THATS why am sad. But it’s whatever, I wake up and I’m here. I don’t wake up with the feelings of hopelessness as often -occasionally, which makes early mornings even more fun, I still make questionable decisions, I’m still not fully “here” in most instances, and someone saying something innocuous like having a headache can derail my mind, if say Sorcha has a headache, I could be checked out for hours. I’m sure this fun new anxiety will eventually go away, or maybe it’ll turn into something like my crippling phone anxiety...? Anyway. Things are fine? I start another job on Monday, which I’m really REALLY looking forward to. Happy Birthday Dad.

I hike all the time. Sometimes 4-5 times a week. For over ten years! Today was the first time I have ever had a specific encounter with, uhhh.. a specific form of nature, and I screamed. So yeah.

This was a birthday drawing I did for for @elizabeth_h six years ago and it’s still one of my favorite things ever.

My favorite Canadian in Australia @taelorxo! Always super friendly and supportive of me and my art for years. You know the drill, scroll through for process and a video. I’m super proud of these and especially the hands! Once again using @procreate.
